Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy · Cottonwood Heights, Utah

Ketamine-assisted therapy, guided by IFS

Ketamine can temporarily relax the protective parts that guard your inner system. In that opening, your Self can connect with parts that have been hard to reach in ordinary therapy. We combine ketamine sessions with IFS preparation and integration so the experience leads to real, lasting change.

Why therapy matters with ketamine

Ketamine infusions alone can bring short-term relief from depression. Pairing ketamine with psychotherapy helps you make sense of what comes up and carry it into daily life.

Ketamine increases neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to form new connections, for a period after each dose. Therapy uses that window to build new relationships with your parts and new patterns of thinking and feeling.

In IFS terms, ketamine helps protectors step back so your Self can lead. Wounded parts that felt too risky to approach often become reachable with more ease and compassion.

Who it may help

  • Depression that hasn't improved enough with medication or talk therapy
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Anxiety and rigid, looping thought patterns
  • Feeling stuck or disconnected after years of therapy

Ketamine isn't right for everyone. A medical evaluation screens for conditions such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, active psychosis, or certain substance use concerns.

The process

What ketamine-assisted therapy looks like

We coordinate with trusted local medical providers who handle evaluation, prescribing, and medical oversight. Your therapist focuses on the therapy.

  1. Consultation and IFS foundation

We get to know your system and goals. Most clients do some IFS work first so they have a relationship with their parts before ketamine.

  2. Medical evaluation

You meet with one of our partner medical providers, who decides whether ketamine is safe and appropriate for you. Your therapist does not prescribe medication.

  3. Preparation session

We set intentions, check in with protective parts, and plan for safety and comfort during the dosing session.

  4. Ketamine-assisted session

An extended session in a calm, private setting with your therapist present throughout. We gently guide the experience using IFS.

  5. Integration

In the following sessions we help you understand what emerged and bring those changes into your relationships and daily life.

Questions about ketamine-assisted therapy

How much does ketamine-assisted therapy cost?

Costs depend on your insurance and the length of your sessions. Medical visits and the medication itself are billed separately by the prescribing provider. We will walk through your expected costs during your consultation, before you commit to anything.

Is ketamine safe?

Ketamine has been used in medicine for decades and is considered safe when screened and supervised by a medical provider. Common short-term effects include dissociation, dizziness, and nausea, which pass within a few hours. Plan to have someone drive you home after a ketamine session.

Do I have to use ketamine to work with you?

No. IFS is our main approach and works well on its own. Ketamine is an option we'll explore together only if it seems helpful.

What training does your therapist have?

Lincoln Bradshaw, LCSW, is trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy through JournEase and in Internal Family Systems through the IFS Institute.
